La Rosière Ski Resort

The French ski resort of La Rosière 1850 is the fastest growing resort in France and the combination of high altitude, south facing slopes and its' linked ski area into Italy, makes La Rosière a big favourite ski resort. It's known for its' huge dumps of snow lasting right to the end of season and as it's south-facing it gets plenty of sunshine too. At 1850m, La Rosière is a high altitude ski resort with excellent snow conditions and a fantastic selection of runs down wide slopes suitable for all abilities. La Rosière is linked to La Thuile in Italy (included on the same ski pass) creating a large ski area of some 155 kilometres of pistes in the very impressive Espace San Bernardo ski area. Skiiing options take you down to 1200m and as high as 2800m. La Rosière has seen huge infrastructure developments in the last few years making it a vibrant but still family orientated resort and offers a great week of skiing for all abilities. You can enjoy breakfast in France and lunch in Italy!

La Rosière was largely developed in the 1950's and boasts beautiful mountainside architecture, untouched forests and quaint villages, as well as stunning Alpine scenery. Situated in the heart of the Haute-Tarentaise region of the French Alps and between Mont Blanc and its surrounding valleys, this resort is perfect for an authentic ski holiday. There are two areas that make up the resort, La Rosière Centre and Les Eucherts, linked by the beautiful forest walk locally known as 'Narnia'! The entire area features traditional style chalets, luxury hotels, a wide range of shops, some great restaurants and a growing choice of bars with live music.

One of the best things about staying in La Rosière is the fabulous skiing opportunities, not just on the French side with its' wide open undulating south facing slopes, but also on the Italian sector with its' sometimes more challenging north facing slopes. If you decide to head to La Thuile, try the famous run number 3 named after Franco Berthod, an athlete who wrote the history of ski at La Thuile. It's where the Ladies World Cup Super Combined Downhill and Super G races are held every winter! It is one of the most interesting runs from a technical point of view: a black run that drops from the plateau of Les Suches, through the woodland above La Thuile to reach the village after almost three kilometres of challenging walls and steep bends. Woohoo!

La Rosiere Skiing and Activities

La Rosière is a wonderfully attractive well-kept French secret. It has a lovely traditional Savoyard feel with low rise chalet-style accommodation built mostly in wood and stone. With 155km of pistes, La Rosière is part of the large Espace San Bernardo, linked to La Thuile in Italy. There are spectacular panoramic views from La Rosière across the Tarentaise valley to Les Arcs, up towards St Foy, Val D’Isere and Tignes and down towards Bourg St Maurice, Aime and Moutiers, as well as impressive views of Mont Blanc from the slopes.

La Rosière is a HIGH ALTITUDE resort at 1850m with the highest on-piste skiing at 2,800m and is south facing, enjoying lovely sunshine with an enviable record for excellent snow conditions and huge dumps of snow. It often has the best snow in the area whilst other resorts are suffering and it lasts right to the end of the season. Queues are rare, even during high season.

La Rosière has won the accolade of FAMILLE PLUS MONTAGNE which is awarded to resorts who specialise in welcoming families and their children. The award is based on a 6 point Quality Charter with criteria relating to personalised facilities for families, events for all ages, reduced prices for children, activities for children and adults to enjoy, a medical service near to the slopes and pampering of children in resort.
