Val d’Isère offers a vast ski area of 300km of groomed piste tracks with great snow and optimal weather conditions for skiing. Temperatures are regularly sub zero during the day and/or at night during the entire winter season, as well as in April. This maintains snow cover, even without new snowfalls. The snow is always there!
Like all the great ski areas, Val d’Isère embraces change. Both the historic village and the slopes above it are constantly evolving. Val has reinvented itself with the complete redevelopment of Solaise, one of the two iconic ski areas reached by high-speed gondola from the village. A €16 million redevelopment of one of the resort’s two iconic mountains, the old Solaise Express chairlift and the even older Solaise cable-car, (the original was built in 1938) were dismantled. In their place is now a 10-person gondola with 91 cabins, complete with heated seats and WiFi.
As we are seeing across most of the French ski resorts, Val d’Isère are championing a more sustainable approach and their 39 piste groomers are now powered by HVO fuel. This fuel is 100% renewable using vegetable oil (no palm oil) and reduces their carbon emissions by an enormous 90%.
Enjoy some of the best skiing in the French Alps in Val d`Isere with 300km of groomed pistes and most importantly in these uncertain winters, it offers guaranteed snow cover from late November until early May.
Great skiing and fabulous apres ski. There’s a huge choice of shops where you can buy everything from local cheese and vintage wines to designer skiwear and fine art. The latest equipment is available to buy or rent from sports shops across the town. When hunger sets in there’s plenty to make your mouth water.
Restaurants are a major plus point in Val d’Isère. Whether you want a gourmet meal or a simple snack you can eat extraordinarily well. Up the mountain, you have the choice of welcoming eateries that range from self-services with a relatively sensibly-priced dish of the day, to gourmet restaurants serving exquisite regional and international cuisine. Back in town, the choice of dining opportunities is world class, with two Michelin-starred establishments leading the way.
Extensive snow sure ski area – Val d'Isère is part of the Tignes-Val d’Isère Ski Area. This provides you with access to the runs in Tignes as well as Val d'Isère. The combined ski area this gives you is huge and helps it rank among the best ski areas in the world.
Iconic Après-ski – In terms of both on-mountain wining, dining and after-hours partying in the village, Val d’Isère leads the way where après is concerned. Val is home to the very first original Folie Douce which opened in 1980. 'A concept geared to families, the young and the not so young! – in the great outdoors, with a great backdrop of dancers, divas and DJ's, LFD always makes sure that fun-seekers of all ages share their unique mix of high quality cuisine and high altitude clubbing'… don’t miss the experience!
Great Heritage – The traditional architecture should be enough to let you know the resort has been here for centuries and the prestige has been building since the parish church was built in 1664.
