What we're looking for

As a chalet host in of one of our chalets, we want you to take ownership of your chalet and run it as if it were your own guest house. You are expected to meet and exceed your guests’ expectations week after week and ensure they have the best holiday ever!

WE HAVE CHALET HOST VACANCIES AT:

1.     Chalets Snowflake andEdelweiss: Montchavin, La Plagne, Paradiski – the 3rd largest ski area in the world:

Two Chalet Hosts in each chalet. Hosts live in shared apartments close by.

2.     Chalets Flocons de Neige, Antony and Cleopatra: Reberty Village, Les Menuires, 3 Valleys – the largest ski area in the world:

Two Chalet Hosts in Chalet Flocon des Neiges. One Chalet Host in Antony and another in Cleopatra. Hosts live in shared rooms on the ground floor next to the chalets.

Accommodation is very expensive in the Alps. Expect a shared and modest room.

All of our chalets have hot tubs and are ski in-out in the biggest ski resorts in theWorld.

We also employ Drivers and Ski Techs.

Previous Desirable Experience

·       Professional kitchen AND/OR talented amateur cooks/chefs, passionate friends and family cooks.

·       Catered ski chalet, summer catered villa/chalet, private yacht experience or pub/restaurant experience.

·       Customer service and/or hospitality experience and housekeeping/cleaning experience to a high standard.

·       Computer literate and able to use Excel spreadsheets (basic level).

Cookery Courses (completion of a chalet host cookery course is expected if you have no cooking experience)

·       Our top rated candidates have completed the Orchards Cookery School 9 day course.

·       Whilst other shorter courses are considered, candidates completing our preferred course get our attention.

·      CANDIDATES WITHOUT RECOGNISED COOKING COURSES OR PROFESSIONAL CATERING EXPERIENCE ARE UNLIKELY TO BE CONSIDERED.

Duties

Welcome guests in a warm and friendly manner at all times and consistently throughout the season. Be presentable with clean uniform at all times. You must always be approachable and informative, smart and reliable.

  • Regimental standards of punctuality, reliability and responsibility are essential.
  • Prepare, cook and serve an attractive and hearty breakfast on time, 5 days a week.
  • Bake beautiful cakes every day for our guests afternoon tea.
  • Prepare and cook children meals to be on the table at 6pm when we have families in resort.
  • Prepare, cook and serve a stylish 3 course dinner party 5 days each week. Including canapes on arrival night and a cheeseboard with port on the penultimate evening.
  • Serve food and drinks as defined during pre-season training and following our set menu, ensuring meals are presented on time, at the right temperature, in the right portion sizes and looking great.
  • Liaise with guests proactively to ensure they have everything they require and are enjoying their holiday. Be knowledgeable about your chalet, resort and the food and wine we serve. Be approachable and informative. Deal with any issues or complaints calmly, immediately, competently and professionally offering a solution as quickly as possible. Report all complaints and any feedback (positive and negative) to the Manager. Actively promote Alpinium services and chalets.
  • Go the extra mile on special occasions such as Birthdays, Anniversaries, Christmas, New Year and Easter.
  • Kitchen and store management (cleaning, stock rotation and organisation).
  • Ensure compliance with Food Safety and Hygiene legislation at all times, completing the necessary records.
  • Ensure effective purchasing, portion and wastage control and stock control (maintain the correct levels of stock and appropriate storage of food, wine, beer, cleaning supplies and wood) in order to not exceed the budget set for the season.
  • Apply conscientious practices for efficient energy management (use of electricity, heating, water, large appliances such as washing machines) and recycling and waste disposal. Ensure equipment is correctly handled and maintained with due care and attention.
  • Adhere to the Daily and Weekly Cleaning Schedules. Conduct daily housekeeping of the rooms, bathrooms and communal areas to a high standard of cleanliness. Conduct a thorough clean of the entire chalet on transfer days to a very high standard. Manage your linen and towel stock.
  • Ensure snow is cleared from paths, steps and balconies so that access to all areas is safe at all times.
  • Maintain the hot tub, sauna and steam room and compete the necessary records to ensure compliance with legislation.
  • Paperwork: Complete and maintain various records.
  • Maintenance: Carrying out any non-skilled/non-qualified maintenance and minor repairs in the chalet such as changing light bulbs. Record and report maintenance issues and breakages in a timely manner.
  • Comply with all legislation, company policies and procedures as set out during training. Adhere to Food Safety & Hygiene legislation, Health & Safety policy, HACCP& COSHH and Fire regulations at all times and ensure the necessary records are completed.

This is a job for mountain lovers, for people who are looking for a lifestyle job for the winter. You are able to ski or snowboard for five days each week at least. We offer a subsidised lift pass, subsidised shared bedroom, ski equipment, food and no bills to pay. We take care of everything so you can have a good winter.

You must be happy, friendly, punctual, smart, reliable, informative, helpful, clean and presentable and enjoy cooking and cleaning of course. Full training is provided.
